In January 2016, Michael J. Weiss joined SVN – Corporate Property Strategies as Executive Vice President.

Michael relocated to south Florida from New Jersey in 2010, where he was a specialist in corporate, industrial, investment and retail properties in both urban and suburban New Jersey markets. He provided guidance to clients, maximizing the effect of their real estate for more than 33 years. He is frequently retained as a consultant, negotiator or expert witness in matters pertaining to areas of his expertise. He has provided litigation support in real estate related court cases and also served as Court Appointed Receiver, overseeing distressed real estate on behalf of a major United States financial institution, as a result of the 2007-2008 financial crisis.

Since beginning his real estate career, Michael completed various forms of transactions for space users in a wide array of industries. In addition to representing tenants, he represents property owners in the acquisition and disposition of real estate assets. He is a licensed real estate broker in Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island and West Virginia, as well as, a licensed real estate instructor in Florida and New York. Michael has written for Financial Executive Magazine and been published in Site Selection Magazine.

Michael received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from Fairleigh Dickinson University and a Master of Science degree in Real Estate Development and Investment from New York University. He also earned the Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM) designation from the Commercial Investment Real Estate Institute in Chicago. Michael is a member of the Counselors of Real Estate and was awarded the distinguished CRE designation.

Since 2002, Michael has been a Professor of Real Estate at New York University. He has taught graduate and undergraduate courses in Real Estate, on campus as well as through distance learning platforms. Among the courses he conducts are Commercial Leasing, Real Estate Market Analysis, Market and Feasibility, Real Estate Economics and Sustainability in Real Estate. He also has overseen independent studies, review of student portfolios for “Life Experience” credits and initiated student internship programs, personally supervising students. Additionally, Michael develops online course content utilizing the Epsilen platform in asynchronis, synchronis and hybrid methods. Michael is the recipient of the NYU Award For Excellence in Teaching and the NYU Longer Service Recognition Award.

At Baruch College, The City University of New York (CUNY), Michael taught the Market Analysis NCP-8000 course at the Steven L. Newman Real Estate Institute to those students pursuing a Certificate in Real Estate and Continuing Education credits.

For 12 years prior to joining SVN, Michael served as a Managing Director in the Miami, Florida, and New Jersey offices of Julien J. Studley, Inc., now known as Savills Studley. He developed and managed business relationships, while providing corporate clients with brokerage, consulting and investment services, as part of a team of specialists for this global, commercial real estate advisory firm headquartered in New York City. Michael contributed to the formation of the company’s Industrial Services Group (ISG) platform and co-authored the Studley 50K Industrial Index, a monthly industry research report.

As Senior Vice President of Archie Schwartz Company, a New Jersey commercial real estate firm, Michael performed oversight to the brokerage team, while maintaining the position of high level producer for 20 years. Concurrently, Michael was Managing General Partner of WMD Partnership, where he managed asset operations and strategic direction of this New Jersey real estate investment firm.

At SVN, Michael counsels landlords, tenants, developers, as well as investors on a myriad of relevant real estate issues that may affect and be essential to their current and future circumstances. He conceives and applies strategies necessary for the successful completion of transactions, in addition to providing services such as portfolio evaluation, regional/national acquisitions, dispositions, relocations, along with lease and contract negotiations. By implementing these procedures, Michael creates value and efficiency, saving clients time and money.
